            For The Weekend this year we would like to invite all of our church groups to participate in the first ever Theophilus Film Festival! The Film Festival will take place at The Weekend, in place of our regular talent showcase. We hope that this change will allow more of our students the opportunity to showcase their skills and talents together in their church groups through the use of media and film. Apart from a few basic parameters, there is a lot of flexibility and room for creative expression.

            The theme for our first Theophilus Film Festival will be “_______philus.” Theophilus ministries really roots itself in the concept of being a “lover of God,” or a “Theophilus.” But in addition to being a lover of God, we want to know what else our students love. Thus, we’ve themed our films this year to be “______philus: Lovers of ______.” Where we allow our students in their church groups to make a video about whatever it is they love.

Film Festival details:

-       We’re looking for videos to be between 5 and 7 minutes in length.

-       Maximum participation is ideal

-       Please keep things appropriate for The Weekend

-       Please encourage your students to avoid use of culture specific/inside jokes.

-       Church groups are allowed to submit multiple videos, however due to limitations on time, not all videos may be screened.

-       Please submit all videos in an .avi format to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it by February 1^st, 2010 to be pre-screened for appropriateness and judging. (IMPORTANT: Please keep a .dv uncompressed copy of the video as well to be used at The Weekend.)

-       Multiple awards will be handed out for winning videos. Videos will be scored on 5 categories:

o      Creativity

o      Participation

o      Production

o      Audio/Sound

o      Message
